The reboot of Crazy Taxi has officially been announced. Since 2024, it has been known that a new Crazy Taxi game was in development. Sega previously stated that they were shifting from a single-player experience to an open-world format. Well, during the XBOX Showcase on June 7, the new Crazy Taxi finally received a name. Crazy Taxi: World Tour comes in 2027.
Recent Hints This Crazy Taxi Debut Was Coming
In May, the Crazy Taxi social media account shared a teaser video showing a taxi rooflight flickering before returning to normal. It turns out that was part of a larger reveal shown during the Showcase.
Another tip that the game was coming soon came from The Offspring. The band’s hit song “All I Want” was heavily featured in the soundtrack of the first game, and played during this trailer. they recently released a new single with Electric Callboy, “Let The Good Times Roll.” The key art for that single appears to show the bands sitting in a taxi reminiscent of the main vehicle in the game.
This is the first major console release in the Crazy Taxi Series in over two decades. The last major release was 2002’s Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller on the original XBOX.
Sega has been working on revitalizing many of its classic properties, not just Crazy Taxi. Properties like Streets of Rage and Jet Set Radio are also getting renewed Focus through video games and other mediums.
