Rocket Racing Leak Reveals Death Race Mode Details

Longtime Fortnite dataminer @BeastFNCreative has leaked new details on Twitter about an upcoming Death Race mode in Rocket Racing.

They claim that Death Race will feature a new objective, where players will “make the track harder to complete” by placing a variety of deadly objects.

The tweet mentions spikes in particular, but the mode could involve anything that allows “other players to be kicked into walls”.

Twitter user and reliable leaker @iFireMonkey also detected the mode last September. But they didn’t have any further details about Death Race at the time.

The mode was simply recognized as a playlist for “Del Mar”, before that was officially confirmed to be Rocket Racing.

However, @iFireMonkey later dug up an “unfinished ‘Wedge’ map” for Death Race earlier this month. They posted an image of the map via Twitter, among other core gameplay maps.

@BeastFNCreative also shared actual footage of the in-progress Wedge map on Twitter, thanks to @SpushFNBR.

Fans speculate that the Death Race mode might be due sometime in early 2024. The developers did officially announce big plans for Season 1 in Rocket Racing.

It will roll out in early 2024, and will include “speed run leaderboards, further customization options, [and] creator-made tracks”.

The addition of creator-made tracks would certainly complement a Death Race mode where players can add their own obstacles. After all, both involve player creativity.

But fans seem a little divided on the Death Race mode. It veers away from traditional kart game modes. And some players may be hoping to see those classic ideas in Rocket Racing.

However, as Fortnite continues to expand, there are plenty of other opportunities later on.

Rocket Racing could use something new to keep up with Fortnite Festival, which is also releasing a guitar in January 2024.
