After many leaks and rumors, Leon Kennedy is making his way as a secondary protagonist in Resident Evil Requiem. The news was shared during The Game Awards 2025, where a scary new trailer was shown.
Celebrating 30 years in 2026, the Resident Evil franchise is going all out with Resident Evil Requiem, releasing February 22nd, 2026. Following Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Outbreak’s Alyssa, as she uncovers mysterious deaths in Raccoon City. Gameplay has been shown here and there, as it looks to combine the fun of the remakes with the style of the recent titles. Despite its best efforts, however, some leaks have slipped through the cracks, especially one about Resident Evil 2 and 4’s lead, Leon Kennedy. After much speculation, a new trailer shown at The Game Awards puts it to rest.

Leon Kennedy Joins Resident Evil Requiem as Playable Character in Latest Trailer

In the trailer, which premiered at The Game Awards, it’s finally revealed that Leon Kennedy will appear in Resident Evil Requiem. The trailer, which shows off some gory visuals and some story, shows the rookie cop in full form. Leon’s storyline will be more action-heavy, while Grace’s will be mystery-focused.
With Resident Evil Requiem releasing in two months, it seems there’s still plenty of surprises in store until then. The series is on quite the hot streak with the upcoming live-action film, directed by Weapons’ Zach Cregger. As for what may be in store for the rest of the anniversary, rumors of a Resident Evil 0 remake have floated around, but nothing concrete yet. Either way, it’s good to see a fan-favorite character like Leon back in the saddle and not at Bingo.
