If you’ve been sitting and hoping for an announcement on Resident Evil 9 to happen soon, you may want to sit down for this. According to known insider Dusk Golem, the game is pretty far out.
In a thread on Twitter over the weekend, Dusk Golem say that people should “wipe the expectations of [Resident Evil 9] being announced this summer period.” He then went on to say that the game’s announcement is further away with a full release not likely until 2025 or 2026.
Originally, he claimed that the game was being targeted for a January 2025 release with a reveal coming “soon”. That seems to no longer be the case, and it’s something he apologized for.
“Sorry for the back-and-forth on that, that’s my fault,” he said.
As far as other games in the franchise, Dusk Golem says there’s no truth to rumors of a Resident Evil 1 or Resident Evil 5 remake being in development. The only remakes in development, he said, are Code Veronica and Zero.
“[Resident Evil 5] is not actively in dev now either,” he said. “It’s been funny seeing this.”
Despite the game’s announcement and release not coming soon, there are some things that he’s claimed about the game, including that it’ll be set on an island in Southeast Asia.
As always with rumors like these, until they are either confirmed by the studio or independently verified by Insider Gaming, please take them with a grain of salt.
