Pokémon Pokopia players have been treated to a major update, not only increasing the adventure for those who purchase the Expansion Pass, but also providing a new Dive ability for all players.
Regular updates in Pokopia have seen the introduction of new Pokémon and furniture items in limited-time events, but the latest content drop is the biggest of them all, opening up a world beneath the waves.
If you’re keen to unlock the Dive ability in Pokémon Pokopia and want all the details on how to do so, Insider Gaming has you covered.
How to Unlock Dive in Pokémon Pokopia

The Dive ability is unlocked in the Bleak Beach area of Pokémon Pokopia, but there are some prerequisites that must be met before the feature is available.
As Bleak Beach is not the initial area where you start in Pokémon Pokopia, you’ll have to have achieved a decent amount of progression. Here are the prerequisites to unlock Dive in Pokémon Pokopia:
- Complete Withered Wasteland
- Learn the Jump ability from Magikarp
- Unlock Bleak Beach
- Learn the Surf ability from Lapras
- Complete the ‘Raise the Environment Level’ request in Bleak Beach
When all those requirements are fulfilled, head to Bleak Beach and speak to Professor Tangrowth, who directs you to a new island in the area. Upon arrival, speak to Manaphy.
Manaphy will provide you with a new request, requiring you to collect five pieces of Seaweed, and comments how it was impressive you completed the request without being able to Dive, before then teaching you the move.
If you have the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, this will then result in a task that leads into the new area, Bubbly Basin, but it’s not only those who splash out on the DLC who benefit from this ability.
What Does Dive do in Pokémon Pokopia?
Dive in Pokémon Pokopia does what you’d expect it to, enabling players to dive beneath the water to explore, gather resources, and build.
While the Dive ability is integral to the new Bubbly Basin area, which landed August 5 as the first part of the Expansion Pass, you don’t need to splash out on the DLC to benefit from the new ability.
With Dive, players can head beneath the waves in the Bleak Beach area and use new crafting items to build underwater areas, including houses for Pokémon.
Of course, the feature unlocks its full potential in the DLC, which brings new Pokémon, a brand-new environment, and a wealth of other new content to complement the new feature.
