How to Make Lava Pools & Streams in Pokémon Pokopia

Pokémon Pokopia has several mechanics to master, and one of those not detailed is whether players can create Lava.

Lava is found in the environment in Pokopia, making for some dangerous exploration at times, but they are limited to specific zones. However, there is a way to use Lava freely to create your own landscapes.

If you’re looking to perfect a terraform and build using custom Lava creations, Insider Gaming has all the details.

Lava is one of the different liquid forms that Ditto can swallow in Pokopia, although there are some restrictions that don’t apply to other liquid sources.

While you can freely jump around in Hot-Spring Water, Muddy Water, and similar, jumping into Lava hurts Ditto. If you do it repeatable, you will respawn on the side instead.

Therefore, the safest way to create lava environments is to use a bottle of Chili Sauce. When consumed, Ditto will fill its body of Lava, which can then be placed in the desired locations. This includes pools, waterfalls, and streams, where it will flow like any other liquid in Pokopia.

To obtain Chili Sauce, interact with a Vending Machine powered by electricity. Once per day, each Vending Machine will distribute one item at random, including the possibility of obtaining a Chilli Sauce bottle.

As there’s no guarantee which of the liquid sources you will receive, the best approach is to interact with as many Vending Machines as you can each day, and save all the items you receive from them for later use.

Can You Move Lava in Pokémon Pokopia?

No, Lava cannot be moved in Pokopia. However, when you place Lava in an environment, you can still get rid of it.

Using Water Spray on any Lava turns the block from liquid form into a solid block, which can then be mined using Rock Smash.

When you cover an entire area full of Lava with Water Spray and turn it into rock, Lava will stop appearing in this area. Additionally, if you block the source of Lava, it will no longer spread.

With these methods, you can create your own Lava landscapes as you please, or mould any existing area with Lava. This makes great environments for Fire-type Pokémon to call home, which really fit into the aesthetic too.

  • You can move lava like an other liquid once you gain the ability. You do not need to be in a liquid to suck it up so can easily be obtained or moved by standing beside it and sucking it up.
