Pokémon Pokopia players have been met with a wave of new content following the release of the first part of the Expansion Pass, bringing Bubbly Basin as a new area to explore.

Bubbly Basin arrives as the first paid-for content update of Pokémon Pokopia, alongside a slew of free updates for all players, and is the first of three waves of content in the Expansion Pass.

If you’re keen to dive in and explore Bubbly Basin, Insider Gaming has all the details.

Bubbly Basin in Pokémon Pokopia is unlocked from the Bleak Beach area, with a new Pokémon appearing once you have purchased the Expansion Pass and learned Dive.

After learning the Dive ability from Manaphy, head back to the Pokémon Center on Bleak Beach to find Popplio, starting a dialogue with the character that leads them to speak about their own home.

In the dialogue, Popplio will direct you to the gate to access Bubbly Basin, located beneath the surface of the sea parallel to the back of the Pokémon Center.

If you get lost, you can ask Popplio to show you the way again, but keep an eye out for a variety of furniture and decorations on the seadbed, indicating where to go.

All Bubbly Basin Prerequisites in Pokémon Pokopia

The Bubbly Basin area in Pokémon Pokopia cannot be accessed immediately, and there are a few requirements that must be ticked off first.

Firstly, you must have progressed through the Withered Wasteland area in Pokopia, where the game begins, and unlocked access to Bleak Beach. From there, you also need to complete the ‘Raise the Environment Level in Bleak Beach’ request.

Additionally, you’ll need to have learned three abilities from other Pokémon; Jump from Magikarp, Surf from Lapras, and Dive from Manaphy, but if you’re at the stage to increase the environment level, you should have already unlocked the first two abilities anyway.

Finally, and the most crucial of them all, you must have purchased the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass. Without it, Popplio will not appear.
