Defeating Primal Groudon

Primal Groudon is a ground and fire type. While the dual typing can be intimidating, it actually benefit the trainers going up against it. Remember, both ground and fire type Pokémon are weak against water, which means you should focus your team around water type.

Ground moves can deal a good amount of damage when up against Primal Pokémon so your team should also have some ground-type moves as well. The following are a few of the best Pokémon to use against Primal Groudon as well as the attack you should utilize.

  • Gyarados: Utilize Waterfall and Hydro Pump
  • Swampert: Utilize Water Gun and Hydro Cannon
  • Kyogre: Utilize Waterfall and Surf
  • Mega Swampert: Utilize Water Gun and Hydro Cannon
  • Mega Gyrados: Utilize Aqua Tail and Waterfall

Perfect IV Primal Groudon

You will know the Primal Groudon is a Perfect IV due to the CP. If there is weather-boosting, the CP will be 2939 for the perfect IV Groudon. However, if there is no weather-boosting, then keep an eye out for the CP to be 2351.

Catching A Shiny

There will be a 100% catch rate when it comes to shiny legendary Pokémon. Take advantage of Pinap Berries so you will get an increased amount of candy when you capture the shiny legendary.

The shiny version of Groudon will have a yellow green color and you’ll have a chance to encounter it once you defeat Primal Groudon in the raid. Keep in mind you are not guaranteed to encounter the shiny but there is a chance.
