The Pokémon Company has revealed new details on the upcoming Nintendo Switch and mobile title Pokémon Champions, along with announcing the release window.
First showcased on Pokémon Day earlier this year, fresh details were announced during the Pokémon Presents stream, including confirmation that the game includes connection to Pokémon Home.
The wait will continue, however, as Pokémon Champions will not be released this year. Instead, Pokémon Champions will arrive at some point in 2026.
Pokémon Champions Details Revealed
Using Pokémon transferred over from Pokémon Home, or recruited from inside the game, players will face-off in ranked battles against other players around the world. Private battles will also be available.
Battles will come in two forms, single and double, with the ability to train Pokémon for each fight. Using in-game items, players can improve their Pokémon stats and abilities. It hasn’t been made clear yet whether the currency is earned in-game or is purchased separately, or both.
As previously announced, Pokémon Champions will be available on the Nintendo Switch family of consoles as well as mobile devices.
The expectation is that Pokémon Champions will become the main route for competitive Pokémon in the future, replacing the current format, though details are still to be confirmed. If this is the case, it could come into rotation for the 2026 Pokémon World Championships, depending on the release date.
