A new report has outlined that over 40,000 PlayStation 5 consoles have been sold daily on average in 2023.
Data acquired by Finbold indicates that, as of October 2023, an average of 1,238,109 units of the PlayStation 5 console were sold monthly. The average works out at approximately 285,718 units weekly and 40,705 daily.
To go one further, that’s 1,696 PlayStation 5’s sold every hour, or approximately 28 in one minute. That means, by the time you got to this point reading the article and it took you 30 seconds, 14 units have been sold on average.
The average number is likely set to expand soon too thanks to the holidays which generally see exceptionally high unit sales. Sony revealed that it sold around 7.1 million PS5 units throughout Q3 2022, which is an average of 2.37 million units sold monthly on average for October, November, and December.
Last month, it was reported that October 2023 was the best-selling month of the PlayStation 5 so far and continues to be the second-best-selling console in Sony’s history.
In terms of total overall sales so far, the PS5 sits at just under 45 million sold, putting it a long way away from the PlayStation 2’s 158.7 million units.
With the new PlayStation 5 Slim also set to streamline production and get the console out to customers faster, the console could hit the 100 million mark within the next two years.
