During today’s anticipated Summer Game Fest 2024 showcases, a major update was revealed for Palworld that’s releasing on June 27, 2024.
Announced via a trailer, the Sakurajima Update in Palworld is set to receive new Pals, dedicated Xbox servers, a new faction and boss, the new arena mode, and even a brand new island.
Developer Pocket Pair previously teased that the multiplayer arena mode is coming later this year, during the Triple-I Initiative showcase. However, that was an unusually brief teaser trailer, featuring just 15 seconds of gameplay.
Palworld also has new Pals coming this summer. The devs teased just four of the upcoming Pals during last April’s ID at Xbox Showcase.
Soon after launch, Pocket Pair released a thorough roadmap for PvP and Raid Bosses. The first raid finally dropped last April featuring Bellanoir, a “powerful and evil” Pal laying siege to the Palpagos Islands.
Pocket Pair first released Palworld in January 2024, and the game quickly broke a wide range of records. It sold over 1 million copies in about 8 hours after launch. Later, Palworld quickly topped around 2 million concurrent players on Steam, surpassing Counter-Strike 2.
By April 2024, the game lost about 97% of its players on Steam following launch. However, this staggering decline alone didn’t necessarily mark a sudden failure.
Now that something more notable was revealed for Palworld at Summer Game Fest 2024, the sheer volume of viewers alone could build new hype.
