Oner Shockingly Won’t Appeal His Asian Games Omission

T1 jungler Mun ‘Oner’ Hyeon-jun has revealed he will not try to appeal South Korea’s Asia Games roster decision.

The three-time League of Legends World Champion was a surprise omission from KeSPA’s chosen squad, with Gen.G’s Kim ‘Canyon’ Geon-bu selected instead.

Despite Canyon getting picked, Gen.G’s CEO criticised KeSPA’s Asian Games team selection method for using stats out of context.

For Korean pros, competing at the Asian Games not only means representing their country but also receiving exemption from mandatory military service should they win gold.

Korea’s Asia Games 2026 LoL roster features three players who have already won gold medals with the full line-up as follows:

  • Choi ‘Zeus’ Woo-je
  • Canyon
  • Kim ‘Zeka’ Geon-woo and Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok
  • Lee ‘Gumayusi’ Min-hyeong
  • Ryu ‘Keria’ Min-seok

Zeus, Faker, and Keria were on the LoL team that won gold at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2022.

And apart from the jungle, every role features a player that Oner has played with on T1. He is the only omission from the legendary ‘ZOFGK’ roster.

Oner Won’t Appeal KeSPA’s Decision

Oner revealed in a recent interview with OSEN that he will not be appealing KeSPA’s decision and decided so rather quickly.

“I think I reached my decision about an hour after the final list of candidates for the national team was announced. After making the decision, I informed my colleagues, team, and even my agent,” Oner said.

While those surrounding Oner advised him to think about it a little longer and consider filing an objection, Oner says his mind was made up:

“Personally, I didn’t feel comfortable about the process of filing an objection, so I informed them of my decision again, stating that I would not be filing one.”

Oner will have to wait until the 2030 Asian Games for his next chance to try and earn a gold medal for Korea.

Though, he may get to represent his country later this year as KeSPA has agreed to return to the Esports Nations Cup after an initial disagreement.
