The Korea eSports Association (KeSPA) has released the list of Team Korea competitors for the Asian Games, including its League of Legends roster for the event, which features Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok once again.
The Asian Games run from September 19 to October 4, including several esports titles. Success at the Asian Games can be vital for esports athletes, as a gold medal can confer exemption from military service.
KeSPA names League of Legends Asian Games roster, with T1 legends starring
The League of Legends lineup for South Korea at the Summer Asian Games 2026 is:
- Choi ‘Zeus’ Woo-je
- Kim ‘Canyon’ Geon-bu
- Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok
- Kim ‘Zeka’ Geon-woo
- Lee ‘Gumayusi’ Min-hyeong
- Ryu ‘Keria’ Min-seok
The roster sees the return of Gumayusi and Keria as a Bot Lane duo after Gumayusi’s T1 departure following Worlds 2025, where he was named the Finals MVP. Joining the pair will be the unkillable demon king in mid, with Faker once again taking his place in the Asian games.
Former T1 Top Laner, Zeus, joins his HLE teammate, Gumayusi, in the lineup, with Zeka also acting as mid-laner to make it three HLE players in the lineup. Rounding out the list is Canyon, Gen.G’s only representative in this year’s group.
It is unclear if the same selection will be made for the Esports Nations Cup in November. The League of Legends lineup for the event was assumed to be the point of contention between the Esports Foundation and KeSPA, leading to KeSPA’s removal as National Team Partner of the event in April, before its reinstation in May.
Oner and Chovy miss out on Asian Games selection
Despite the strength of the selection, some fans were left disappointed by the choices. Notably, the ZOFGK reunion will not be happening, at least in the 2026 Summer Asian Games.
Instead, it might be ZCFGK or ZCZGK, depending on the starting line-up, with Canyon taking up the jungler position over Mun ‘Oner’ Hyeon-jun and Zeka listed as an additional midlaner.
The list sees arguably the best player in League of Legends of the last two years not included in a list that includes two mid-laners.
Jeong ‘Chovy’ Ji-hoon was not selected, despite Gen.G’s domestic dominance in the time frame, also winning two MSI titles since 2024, a tournament not mentioned in the selection process.
Gwak ‘Bdd’ Bo-sung will also not compete, even with Bdd winning the LCK Player of the Year award at the 2025 season-end ceremony.
Still, fans can’t be too up in arms about the choices, as KeSPA revealed the following metrics as the criteria for their selections, based on performance in the Regular Season, KeSPA Cups, and Worlds since 2024 (translated):

- Converted score based on performance per KeSPA CUP

- Converted score based on All-Pro Team (1st ~ 3rd) selections per Regional Regular League season
- Converted score based on POG (Player of the Game) points per Regional Regular League season
