Nintendo Isn’t Going To Gamescom 2024

Nintendo has confirmed that it won’t be appearing at Gamescom 2024. After appearing at the 2023 event as an exhibitor, the company confirmed to German outlet Gameswirtschaft that it will be skipping this year’s show./

“Gamescom is a central event in Nintendo’s event calendar,” a Nintendo spokesperson told the outlet. “This year, however, after careful consideration, we decided not to participate in Cologne. Instead, players will be able to try out the games for Nintendo Switch as part of other events across Germany.”

Last August, Nintendo reportedly showed closed door tech demos of the Nintendo Switch 2, or whatever the console will be called, to various members of the press and game developers. The next console from the company is still in development, but is currently expected to be released in early 2025.

Insider Gaming has reached out to Nintendo for comment to try and get more details on why it’s decided to skip Gamescom 2024. Should a response be received, this story will be updated accordingly.

Gamescom takes place this year from August 21-25 in Cologne, Germany.
