Nikita Buyanov’s ‘Fragmentary Order’ Gets First Gameplay Reveal

Nikita Buyanov, the head of the studio at Battlestate Games and Rant Gaming, has been piecing together Fragmentary Order with a new team for some time. The game was revealed earlier this year, and for many, it’s ‘Space Tarkov’, but it goes far beyond that in terms of what it’s shaping up to be. Several months ago, I sat down with Nikita to learn all about the game.

Now, the team at Rant Gaming has unveiled a gameplay teaser as part of an NVIDIA showcase. It’s part of a deeper gameplay reveal that’s coming next month, but for now, it’s enough to get our taste buds trembling in anticipation of this all-new, hardcore sci-fi shooter.

Fragmentary Order Gameplay Glimpse Revealed

Nikita Buyanov hasn’t quit working on Escape from Tarkov, but he now balances his time between pioneering that game and managing the development of Fragmentary Order. He sees the latter game as the most challenging thing he has ever worked on, and it’s leagues beyond Escape from Tarkov in terms of scope.

This all-original title takes a near-future universe, heads to the stars, and introduces a new way to play first-person shooters. It’s set to be immensely immersive, hugely detailed, and punishing, but it’s not strictly an extraction shooter.

Today’s NVIDIA showcase revealed our first glimpse at in-engine gameplay, and it’s looking sumptuous. One of the things that prevented Escape from Tarkov from being ‘as good as it could be’ was the graphical limitations of the engine and the platform, but Fragmentary Order will not have that problem.

Earlier this year, I sat down with Nikita Buyanov to learn about Fragmentary Order, coming away from the discussion with an exclusive first look at several in-engine images, taken from the game’s enormous Blue Mars map.

This is fast becoming one of the most anticipated projects in the first-person shooter space, but where do you stand? Do you think it’s just Escape from Tarkov in space, or is there much deeper potential here? Let us know on the Insider Gaming Discord server.
