NHL 24 Crossplay Details Revealed

As part of the game’s full reveal on Thursday, EA Sports announced that crossplay has been expanded in NHL 24.

That expansion includes both Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT) and the World of Chel (WoC). Yes, even EASHL.

Of course, there were still questions as to what that meant. So, EA Sports put up an FAQ section on the game’s official website that will hopefully answer all of the questions players might have about the feature.

You can see all of the answers below, courtesy of EA Sports.

NHL 24 Crossplay FAQs

What is crossplay?

Crossplay will allow players to square off against opponents and play with friends on the same console generation. This means that PS5 players and Xbox Series X|S players can team up and play against one another, while PS4 and Xbox One players can do the same. Players cannot play cross-generationally, for example, an Xbox X|S player and PS4 player cannot play with or against one another.

Will crossplay allow for cross-console invitations?

Crossplay will allow cross-console invitations in World of Chel. Xbox players can play with PlayStation players on the same team if they are in the same generation. For example, a player with a PS5 can play with an Xbox S player on the same team.

HUT will allow Cross-Console invites in the form of private matches similar to the post-launch update we added to NHL 23.

When is crossplay appearing in-game?

It will be available when NHL 24 launches worldwide on Oct 6th.

What modes will feature crossplay capabilities?

All online World of Chel modes and Hockey Ultimate Team.

How does cross-platform matchmaking impact HUT leaderboards and auction house?

The HUT leaderboards will remain console-specific. We will have additional information on the Auction House soon.

How will it affect wait times for matchmaking?

Crossplay increases player pools significantly, allowing you to team up with your friends and likely reduce wait times to find opponents.
