Marvel Rivals Leak Claims New Details and Images

Recently, we reported on the claim that NetEase is in development on an ‘Overwatch-style Marvel shooter’. In the reports, it was said that the company is making a 6v6, third-person shooter with a roster of fighters made up of some of Marvel’s most recognisable characters, hero-shooter-style. On social platforms, another leak surfaced recently claiming to be revealing images and more details about the developing title.

We’ll Know Soon Enough

On the Marvel Games Twitter profile, an impending reveal was announced, due to take place today at 8 AM PT / 3 PM GMT. It was accompanied by a black-and-white image showing silhouettes of various Marvel characters, but the full, coloured image was leaked online shortly after. Since then, more claimed details and images from the project have surfaced.

Here are the latest claims, yet to be confirmed (but potentially being confirmed in a few hours):

  • This is not a mobile game and will only be on console and PC
  • Thor and Moon Knight will be released as later heroes
  • There is no player-vs-environment mode
  • It’s more melee-based than it is shooter-based, only characters with guns use them
  • It’s third-person exclusive
  • Characters can evolve – Bruce Banner can transform into The Hulk, for example

An image posted on Twitter by PizzaLord claims to have revealed the game’s menu – specifically the ‘Heroes’ tab. In the snapshot, we see a lineup of Marvel characters in a style reminiscent of Overwatch – or perhaps even VALORANT. In the list are:

  • Bruce Banner
  • The Punisher
  • Loki
  • Storm
  • Doctor Strange
  • Mantis
  • Rocket Raccoon
  • Black Panther
  • Groot
  • Magik
  • Luna Snow
  • Iron Man
  • Spider-Man
  • Magneto

There’s no sign of a scroll wheel or alternate tabs, so it looks like this is the starting line-up for Marvel Rivals. We’ll know more later today.
