NAKWON: Last Paradise Closed Alpha Had 280,000 Players

NAKWON: Last Paradise is one of the most highly anticipated zombie-based extraction titles coming out this year (hopefully). It promises to be a neat addition to the genre, and if recent player numbers are anything to go by, it’s already going to have a nice popularity stint at launch.

Nexon has unveiled important stats from the recent closed playtest for NAKWON: Last Paradise, revealing that more than a quarter of a million players found their way into the game. The peak concurrent player count for NAKWON hit 37,468 on Steam, which is not bad at all.

NAKWON is Shaping Up Nicely

NAKWON: Last Paradise is an extraction title with a twist. It’s rooted in the post-apocalypse, plunging players into a ruined South Korean city after the undead have torn it to shreds and occupied every corner of it. Players must contend with the zombies and other players while scavenging the city for loot and resources.

The core extraction loop is pretty exciting, and the base game offers hideout customization, a rudimentary leveling system, and intense combat mechanics based mostly around hand-to-hand fighting, raw and desperate.

In a new graphic published on social media, Nexon revealed that 279,484 players joined the closed playtest, 43,311 of which came across from previous tests. The numbers revealed that only 393 users managed to reach the loftiest heights of the test, which was to reach level 10 as a player.

Out of those 279,484 players, 1.8 million successful extractions were recorded. The loot game went hard, too, and one user managed to get out of their raid with 3.7 million credits worth of items.

NAKWON: Last Paradise popped off this month with the closed playtest, attracting the attention of the usual extraction-based streaming crowd. Even though NAKWON doesn’t have a release date, it’s looking very polished and is expected to arrive later this year, after some more tests have taken place.
