NACON has decided to cancel multiple physical releases of upcoming games, a retailer claims.
According to Video Games Plus, the outlet described as North America’s premier independent videogame retailer/distributor, physical releases for Dragonkin, Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, Gear Club Unlimited 3, and Edge of Memories have been canceled. These releases were slated for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
The games are still in development, but Video Games Plus has confirmed that all ESRB physical copies of the games have been canceled and will not be released. They’re offering refunds for any customers who placed pre-orders with them.
NACON Has Struggled Financially Recently
NACON recently announced it was at risk of closure after filing for an emergency insolvency. The company then announced it would delay its Connect event to focus more on the games in development. In their statement, they said they had many projects that were still in development and announced that releases remain on track. Check out the full statement here.
The connect event was originally scheduled for March 4 and is now expected to be held in May.
Insider Gaming will continue to report any and all updates on that situation, as well as news regarding NACON.
In other physical release news, Nintendo recently announced that first-party titles published on the Nintendo Switch 2 will have different MSRP between their digital and physical releases. Learn more about that here.
