Just three months after its first round of layoffs, Cyan Worlds , the developer behind Myst, have announced more employees were being let go.
In a post on social media over the weekend, the studio said it was “sorry to say” that it had another round of redundancies.
“We’ve updated our previously shared sheet to reflect folks still (or newly) looking for opportunities,” they said while sharing a spreadsheet with employee information.

The last round of job cuts in March say 12 people let go. This round appears to be shorter with 14 people on the list, including many still remaining from the first announcement.
As far as a reason for the latest layoffs goes, nothing was said. The studio previously said that it had to do with the state of the industry and company finances. At the time, Cyan Worlds said the current plan was to “secure financing for [the] next project, and to restabilize the studio.”
With more people let go, it seems as though that hasn’t happened as of publishing. Insider Gaming has reached out for more details on the cuts, and what the immediate plans for the studio are.
Cyan Worlds was founded in 1987 by brothers Robyn and Rand Miller. Since its establishment 38 years ago, the studio has released games such as the Myst series, Riven, Uru, Firmament, and more. Currently, it’s known what is in development at the studio. The last game launched was a remake of Riven, which released in June 2024.
