The cult following for the OG Max Payne games is still quite sizable; people have wanted remakes for years. A recent Remedy Entertainment report highlighted that the remake projects are both still happening, but not much else can be said about them.
Remedy is known for its key IPs: Alan Wake, Control, and Max Payne 1 & 2.
The latter’s third game was handled by Rockstar Games, but remakes of the first two Remedy games are happening, and there’s been a minor update on the games.
Remedy Entertainment Can’t Talk About Max Payne 1 & 2 Remakes

Remedy’s most recent financial report talked financial figures, wishlist numbers, and featured public questions that wanted to know more about the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remakes.
Back in August 2025, we learned Rockstar Games was working with Remedy on Max Payne 1 & 2 Remakes.
The 2026 half-year report made it clear that production is still fully underway, but Rockstar Games’ publishing rights mean Remedy can’t talk about it right now.

During the report, one of Remedy’s speakers had this to say:
“There’s a lot of questions concerning Max Payne; on that game, Rockstar Games is handling the publishing side, so we can’t comment on those questions”
Rockstar has its plate quite full with GTA 6, so that might be a distraction for now. However, we’ll hopefully hear from the company about the remakes at some point.
The key thing is, the remakes are still happening, and Max Payne will be policing screens once again.
