The next bit of news surrounding Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 could be coming sooner than you would think. According to a tweet posted by Tony Todd, the voice actor for Venom in the game, news could be set to drop either on Monday or Tuesday.
Specifically, the tweet read, “Big creative news, dropping tomorrow. Stay Tuned!!!”.
While that wouldn’t be much cause for alarm on a normal day, Todd then retweeted a fan’s tweet of Venom from the game’s reveal trailer. On top of that, he began liking multiple tweets questioning if the news was related to Insomniac’s latest title.
What we know about Spider-Man 2
Announced back in September 2021, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will serve as the direct sequel to 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man. The game will see the return of everyone’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man as he faces new challenges and foes, one of which being the aforementioned Venom.
Since the reveal, however, Sony and Marvel have been extremely quiet on the game’s development and status. The only thing fans have heard up to this point is confirmation from Insomniac that the game is still coming in 2023. That’s despite being in development at the same time as its standalone Marvel’s Wolverine title. That said that game is still likely a couple of years away at least.
Obviously, this is all just rumor based on one man’s Twitter account. But with the game slated to be released in 2023 for PlayStation 5, we could be at the point where the hype train for the game begins, bringing even more Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 news. We’ll see if the news is more than just an announcement of a PlayStation showcase or an appearance at The Game Awards.
