Diablo 4 is to Launch in April 2023, it’s Claimed

Xbox Era‘s Nick Baker and WindowsCentral‘s Jez Corden have claimed that Diablo 4 is set to release in April 2023.

According to both Baker’s and Corden’s insider sources, the game is set to be revealed at The Game Awards in December 2022.

Diablo 4 is slated for a 2023 release and a launch toward the end of Activision Blizzard’s fiscal year could make a lot of sense for the company.

Rumors appearing over the summer revealed that Diablo 4 would be announced at The Game Awards, originally leaking via the /r/classicwow subreddit.

Both XboxEra and WindowsCentral report that Blizzard is planning a “sizeable marketing blits for Diablo 4”, with its marketing starting at The Game Awards. In addition, WindowsCentral reports that pre-orders should open at the event, which could include various digital editions and a premium physical collector’s edition with various goodies for hardcore fans.

Earlier this year, Blizzard announced that the title will be a live service title with regular seasons, a cosmetic shop, and Battle Pass support.

“Diablo IV’s Seasons are modeled after those of Diablo III. When a new season begins, all the characters from the prior season are moved to the Eternal Realm, where you can keep playing, leveling up, and collecting loot.”, the blog said.

It continued “To play in the new season, you’ll create a fresh character and experience the new seasonal features and content while leveling up alongside other players. This, along with capping paragon points in Diablo IV, ensures that your effort and skill—measured by both dexterity and theorycrafting —determine how powerful your character becomes.”

Insider Gaming sources were unable to confirm the rumor before publication but will update the report if we can corroborate.

UPDATE – In an undirect tweet, the President of Activision Blizzard, Mike Ybarra, has tweeted “Don’t believe everything you read.”
