The first images of the Mario movie, which will be called “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” have leaked online ahead of today’s Nintendo Direct reveal.
The leaked image, from a McDonald’s ad, shows the first look at Mario and Princess Peach in the movie.
The Nintendo Direct will start at 4:05pm EDT today, October 6. The world premiere of the Super Mario Bros. movie will be shown during the direct, but an exact time hasn’t been confirmed.
Chris Pratt will play the role of Mario and in an interview with Variety about his role, he said that his voice is “unlike anything you’ve heard in the Mario world before.”
Of course, such news has brought criticism online, but Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri said “When people hear Chris Pratt’s performance, the criticism will evaporate, maybe not entirely — people love to voice opinions, as they should”.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie will hit theatres on April 2, 2023.
