LoL Patch 26.21 Will Rebalance Almost 30 Champions

There will only be four more League of Legends updates this year, including LoL Patch 26.21, which will release next week.

This will be the first update after the LoL Worlds patch, which was heavily focused on improving the pro play meta for the major esports event.

LoL Patch 26.21 will instead focus on the ranked ladder as the 2026 season comes to a close.

And with that, Riot is planning to either nerf, buff, or adjust 28 different champions in this update. Here’s every planned change.

Phroxzon Explains Riot Patch Philosophy

Lead gameplay designer Matt ‘Phroxzon’ Leung-Harrison has offered more context about the next LoL patch.

“This patch, we’re trying to strike a good balance between preserving strengths of champions, while redistributing power budget for champions,” Phroxzon explained.

He added that Riot is trying to make things like mana costs, especially in the case of Locke, more costly and is hoping to further expose certain weaknesses for champions to allow their strengths to shine through.

An example Phroxzon gave for this is Yasuo and Yone. The duo are getting nerfed as Shieldbow has become a powerful first item on them.

However, the nerfs won’t hit this interaction as Phroxzon claims Yasuo/Yone players “feeling like their passive can kick in early feels great for their fantasy.”

He also revealed Taric and Twisted Fate are getting quality-of-life updates which see their ultimates and Tariq’s Q now work with untargetable champions (vision in the case of TF ult).
