VALORANT 13.08 Patch Notes—Map Rating, Penalties, and Fixes

Riot Games has unveiled VALORANT’s 13.08 patch, which introduces more information about penalties for malicious operators, as well as map and agent updates, a new map rating mechanic, and various bug fixes.

It’s a pretty comprehensive update, and along with it, Riot Games provided key stats about the game’s anti-cheat ecosystem, including how many cheaters have been banned in recent weeks. You can find all this information and the full breakdown of the 13.08 patch notes below.

VALORANT Penalties Made Clear

Alongside VALORANT‘s 13.08 update, Riot Games unveiled more information about ‘problematic players’ and how they’re punished. In a data-driven breakdown, the team confirmed that, between August 18 and October 1, a whopping 171,000 cheaters were banned from the game, and a further 54,000 botters were eliminated.

Additionally, 14,000 stream snipers and insta-lockers were removed, 74,000 were kicked out for toxicity, and 288,000 were banned for repeated AFK infractions.

The team wrote:

We know we still have a lot of work to do, and we’ll keep you updated as we do it.’

In terms of the 13.08 update’s impact on VALORANT gameplay, there’s not a whole lot, but the overall presentation of the game has received some changes. For instance, there’s now a map rating function that evaluates how you perform on given maps, giving you a rating proportionate to how you play in that environment.

It’s based on:

  • Overall win rate
  • Attacker win rate
  • Defender win rate
  • Performance score

You’ll get a numerical score of 0 – 500 for that map, and a grade ranging from C to S.

In terms of map updates, Corrode has undergone some major relocations and tweaks, while the competitive map pool has been altered. Corrode and Bind are in, while Ascent and Split are out.

Here’s the sweep of bug fixes coming in VALORANT’s 13.08 update:

Competitive

  • Fixed an issue where the threshold shown for the Masterful accolade was
    incorrect.

Gameplay

  • Fixed an issue where alternate footstep sounds would sometimes not play while a
character was in Fog of War
  • Fixed an issue where bodyfall audio events would fail to play at proper location
when agents died while in Fog of War
  • Fixed an issue where gun bounce audio events would sometimes not trigger as
    expected

Weapons

  • Fix for Warden scope reticle misalignment during full auto fire
