Broken Statikk Shiv Rework Can’t Make It Into League of Legends

Riot Games has reworked Statikk Shiv in League of Legends, and the community is begging for the item change to not make it out of the PBE.

The League of Legends item has been updated by Riot so that now its signature lightning bolts, which strike up to four nearby enemies, will apply all on-hit effects.

Riot promised there would be no big mid-season LoL patch this year so that players don’t get alienated from struggling to keep up.

Yet, this change is essentially game-breaking, with a lot of new combos and builds enabled by this change with a lot of on-hit abilities in the game.

Many of these interactions appear to be much too strong and will likely need to be addressed by Riot should the change still make it from the PBE to the live server.

Statikk Shiv Changes

Statikk Shiv is no longer an ADC item. While still offering 45 AD, 30% attack speed, and 4% movement speed, the new Shiv will also offer 45 AP too, allowing a lot more champions to purchase it.

Because of this, Statikk Shiv has now increased in price from 2700 gold to 3000 gold with a new build path replacing Rectrix with the Aether Wisp AP item.

And of course, the passive ability of the item has been reworked so that the bouncing lightning now applies to all nearby enemies, including minions, which can lead to some pretty crazy interactions.

Broken Statikk Shiv Combos

There are various broken interactions that players have already discovered on the PBE.

For example, while a damage item might not usually be what you want on Braum, the ability to apply his passive to multiple enemies in a teamfight and have all of them stunned could be game-winning.

Similarly, Senna with Shiv and Runaan’s can get up to five stacks from a single auto-attack and Q — allowing her to scale much faster.

There are a lot of other strong item combinations with the new Shiv, including Dusk and Dawn, which has proven to be one of the strongest items in the game this year.

Dusk and Dawn and Shiv will likely be a must on Kai’Sa, who will benefit massively from the dual damage and the ability to mark all of her opponents.

Another strong item combo is Heartsteel, which allies the on-hit to everyone nearby and can also lead to ridiculously fast stacking.

And another melee champ benefiting is Volibear, who can fully stack his passive with just one auto for crazy damage.

And perhaps the most egregious of all is Katarina, who procs Statikk non-stop with her ultimate.

And see what changes have made it live into the game with LoL Patch 26.8.
