Square Enix celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Kingdom Hearts series in 2022. Kingdom Hearts 4 was unveiled during the special presentation, showing us how glorious a next-gen KH could look, but the project has gone quiet since.
I have played Kingdom Hearts 1 to death, and it’s one of my favourite games ever. Sequels have grabbed my attention, but a warmth resides in me when I think of KH1. Recent Kingdom Hearts titles have so many narrative strands weaving about all over the place that it’s hard to keep up sometimes, but there’s no mistaking the brilliance of the franchise.
Director Nomura Tetsuya has said Kingdom Hearts 4 is heading toward the end of the series. But many players want to know what they’re getting with Kingdom Hearts 4 before they contemplate the future.
No News on Kingdom Hearts 4 Release Date
The April 10, 2022, Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary Celebration featured trailers for new KH games. The final announcement was for Kingdom Hearts 4, and featured a set-piece battle between Sora and a skyscraper-sized Heartless boss.
It ends with a comical cameo featuring Donald and Goofy. Those closing moments were the last we’d see for three years. We reported in 2024 that a leaker had outed a 2025 release date for Kingdom Hearts 4. We’re a third of the way through 2025, and still have heard nothing—making this report feel thinner by the day.
The only thing Square Enix has said about KH recently is that Kingdom Hearts is finally coming to Steam. It’s at the point now where I’d forgotten KH4 exists until I saw social media today. In today’s ever-evolving and fast-paced game industry, it’s hard to believe it’s been three years since Kingdom Hearts 4 was announced.
Here’s hoping we don’t have to wait too much longer!

Shareholders should be grilling them on this. This game won’t be made and if made will flop. KH3 had so many problems if this doesn’t right that it will be bad.
Missing Link also is a mess and shouldn’t be made should have made a Switch game instead. 4 will be cancelled the rumors the shills tried to disperse were all true the game was scrapped a restarted development this is going to be awful with the Disney crap and if they do the goofy cartoony style instead of the serious style real fans wanted. Still no Verum Rex either they should have let Nomura make that or reined him in and made 3 the finale of the series instead of the mess he made. Versus 13 should have been made. The Kingdom Hearts series is a mess and so is Dragon Quest the development is ruined these games won’t be made only Final Fantasy 7 Part 3 is the only AAA game they’re making. Square Enix is a mess.
Bandai Namco or Sega should make a D.Gray-Man game with CyberConnect2 I mean Kingdom Hearts ripped off that series and unlike Kingdom Hearts that series will hopefully be resolved this year all we need is the anime to come back or a new anime more faithful adaption.
Where is this game? They showed it and it seemed ready to go what happened they showed gameplay?
Where is it? Use your insiders to find out what happened? The game should have been out by now. The shills are defending this again last time it was HD models now it’s they revealed it too early and corporate leader change even so the game should be shown. I heard Dragon Quest XII had a ton of problems too and lost its director that game has nothing either. Square Enix is just a dump that needs to be sold off, Nintendo should buy them.
The question is why? FF7 Rebirth didn’t have this problem the reveal to release was like a year and part 3 is now coming out 2027 with next year being FF9 remake and FF Tactics year so that leaves 2028 or later and many seem to be under the assumption this game is still far away possibly 2028-2030 or not at all.
Nomura and Square made a mess. Every 10 years you get a new game. Kingdom Hearts can’t survive this way and won’t.
