The follow-up to Kena: Bridge of Spirits, titled Kena: Scars of Kosmora, has been delayed to 2027, with the sequel originally targeting a 2026 release date.
The delay comes as Ember Lab looks to give the game more time in development, with the studio explaining that Scars of Kosmora is significantly larger in scope than the original. The additional time will allow the team to polish the expanded experience and ensure it reaches the quality bar set by Bridge of Spirits.
That said, Ember Lab has also revealed plenty of new details about the sequel’s story and gameplay, giving fans a better idea of what to expect when Kena’s next adventure eventually arrives.
New Kena: Scars of Kosmora Details Emerge
The news arrived via a new PlayStation Blog post from Ember Lab game writer Thomas Varga and COO Josh Grier, who explained the reasoning behind the delay while also providing a deeper look at Kena’s journey.
Kena is now a more experienced Spirit Guide, helping the dead move on from their pain. However, she’s struggled to deal with her own, leading her to travel to the mysterious island of Kosmora alongside her childhood friend Orfio in search of answers about their shared past.
Kosmora is home to four interconnected cultures, each historically shaped by one of the four elements. Kena will explore the island’s Alchemystic Temples, taking on dungeon-like challenges while learning more about the cultures that now call the island home.
The sequel will also introduce a new crystalline canine companion, which can act as Kena’s mount and fight alongside her. The creature will also help with puzzles, giving Kena new ways to explore Kosmora and overcome its challenges.
Kena: Scars of Kosmora is now scheduled to launch in 2027 on PS5 and PC.
