It was recently revealed by Deadline that Jack Black is slated to play Steve – assumedly the main character – in Jason Momoa’s Minecraft movie. This news comes mere weeks after Black starred in the Super Mario Bros. Movie, which rocketed up the charts to become one of the highest-grossing animated movies of all time. It was revealed that Black will be joining the existing case that consists of Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen.

From Mario to Minecraft

Jack Black, who is far from a stranger to animated flicks, will reportedly take on the role of Steve in the in-production Minecraft movie. At present, very little is known about the film, and everything from the setting to the style and from the story to the script is unknown.

Black is experiencing an animated-backed boom at the moment. He’s still riding high on the ongoing success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and on March 8, Kung Fu Panda 4 – in which Black plays the main character, Po – will hit theatres worldwide.

In the recent report published by Deadline, it was simply mentioned: ‘We hear Black is playing the role of Steve.’

At least it’s not Chris Pratt, right?
