Jagex shadow dropped an early access build of RuneScape: Dragonwilds on Steam, but is the game available on PlayStation or Xbox?
In March, Jagex announced RuneScape: Dragonwilds, a four-player survival game set in the same universe as the traditional RuneScape. The announcement shocked long-time fans, as it is a drastically different project than the MMORPG format that made the series so popular.
Yet, anticipation was still high, as Jagex confirmed it would launch this spring. The wait didn’t turn out to be too long, as Jagex shadow-dropped RuneScape: Dragonwilds on April 15. In addition to an early access build, the devs revealed a roadmap for future updates. All that being said, do console players have access, or will they have to wait?
Can You Play RuneScape: Dragonwilds on PlayStation or Xbox?

No, RuneScape: Dragonwilds is not available on PlayStation or Xbox.
The early access game is only available on Steam for $29.99. Players can choose to go on this journey alone or recruit up to three friends to survive, craft, and upgrade their characters before eventually taking on the Dragon Queen.
Will RuneScape: Dragonwilds be on PlayStation or Xbox?
Yes, in an interview with Jake Lucky, Jagex senior community manager Mod Doom revealed that the plan is to release RuneScape: Dragonwilds in winter 2026 when the game officially launches.
“Hopefully, by winter 2026, players will be able to get it fully launched, and you can get your friends in on console as well,” Mod Doom Said.
Mod Doom explained why he can’t provide an official release date for consoles.
“This is such a big moment for the world of RuneScape, the company, and us as a team, so we want to make sure we are doing this right.” If we have to be a little more patient and players have to be more patient for the end product to be as good as it can be, they will understand.”
Even though console players still have a long wait ahead of them, the game will be much more polished. During early access, Jagex plans to release new updates every three months, and new content includes a new region, enemy type, skills, quests, lore, gear, and music.
In addition, combat, performance, multiplayer, difficulty, lighting, and weather are all scheduled to be improved.
