With the many recent titles launching from Ubisoft featuring an in-game store full of cosmetic and convenience items, like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Skull and Bones, most of us are curious about Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Will it feature microtransactions? Is Assassin’s Creed Shadows always online? Here’s what we know so far!
Does Assassin’s Creed Shadows Require a Constant Internet Connection?
We can confirm that Assassin’s Creed Shadows does not require a constant internet connection to play. Most of Ubisoft’s titles have always-online requirements, especially with their recent attempts to push microtransactions via in-game stores from the menu. But for the upcoming Shadows, you will need an internet connection to download and install the game, but that’s all. You can play Assassin’s Creed Shadows offline!
I don’t doubt Assassin’s Creed Shadows will feature some form of cosmetics, especially considering how aesthetic samurai armor typically appears in video games. There’s a lot of room for cosmetic armor sets, like those seen in Ghost of Tsushima, and many players will eat that up!

Does Assassin’s Creed Shadows Have Microtransactions?
We do know that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will feature cosmetics in the form of armor, weapons, and animal companion skins. Plus, the game features a hideout mechanic, in which you can customize your lair to suit your style within the Shinobi League.
If you purchase the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Ultimate Edition, you’ll receive the Ultimate Pack, which includes:
- The Sekiryu Character Pack
- Gear and Weapon Sets for Naoe and Yasuke
- Sekiryu Beast
- Dragon Tooth Trinket
- The Sekiryu Hideout Pack

It’s safe to assume that, like past Ubisoft titles, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will feature an in-game store, accessible from the main menu and in-game menu, with various cosmetics and convenience items available for real money purchase.
