Spider-Man 2 has been a smashing success, swinging its way up the charts with relative ease since being released on October 20th. For many, it’s being heralded as the ‘greatest superhero game ever made’, with Insomniac Games pushing the PlayStation 5’s capabilities to the limit in their effort to build a fluid, gargantuan open-world adventure.
In an interview published by Gizmodo, Insomniac’s Ben Arfmann (narrative director) and Brittney Morris (advanced writer) broke down many aspects of the sensational game, divulging a super-sized stack of spoilers, including who Insomniac Games sees as being the ‘primary’ Spider-Man now.
Who Is The Primary Spider-Man?
It might come as little surprise – particularly to those who have completed Spider-Man 2, but going forward, the ‘main’ Spider-Man will be Miles Morales, with Peter Parker sitting on the back burner and removing the mask for a while to focus on ‘IRL’ activities.
In the Gizmodo interview, Morris spoke to the notion of Miles taking up the mantle of the ‘main’ Spider-Man, succeeding his master, Peter Parker:
It always felt very natural, and I think we all collectively thought it would happen. To me, it shows a great deal of evolution from Miles; at the beginning of the game, we see him struggling to figure out what he wants to do with his life. By the end, we had Miles carrying the burden of saving the city, and also carrying Pete when Pete wasn’t strong enough to carry himself at various points.
Arfmann backed up those comments by stating, ‘It always felt like the only way the game could end.’
Have you finished Spider-Man 2 yet? Do you agree with Miles Morales becoming the primary Spider-Man character?
