Hytale has a wide array of resources to gather, each of which has a crucial use, and Sturdy Chitin is a material you will need to gather as part of your progression.
Like many resources in Hytale, Sturdy Chitin is found in one biome in particular, and there is a specific way to obtain it. Insider Gaming has all the details.
Best Location to Find Sturdy Chitin in Hytale
Sturdy Chitin can only be obtained in the Howling Sands biome in Hytale, aka the desert, by defeating specific types of mobs.
Several different mobs in Hytale drop Sturdy Chitin as a resource when eliminated, and a general rule of thumb is that if it has natural armor, it will drop Sturdy Chitin as a resource. The mobs that drop Sturdy Chitin are:
- Scorpions
- Armadillos
- Tortoises
- Scarak Defender, Fighter, Louse, Seeker & Broodmother
Tortoises, Scorpions, and Armadillos only drop one or two Sturdy Chitin each, so while they’re a relatively harmless way to farm the resource, it will take a lot longer. For more efficient farming, the best approach is to hunt down Scarak enemies, mostly found in underground nests.
Clearly out enemies found in these nests provide a decent yield of Sturdy Chitin, though you will likely have to clear out a few to have as much of the resource that is required for two crucial upgrades.
What is Sturdy Chitin Used For in Hytale?
Sturdy Chitin is a material used to upgrade the Tanning Rack to Level 2 and the Armorer’s Workbench to Level 3.
Upgrading both these items is a necessary step in progression, but you need a decent chunk of Sturdy Chitin to get your hands on it, as 40 Chitin is required for the Armorer’s Workbench, and five is needed to upgrade the Tanning Rack.
Fortunately, Sturdy Chitin isn’t a particularly rare resource to track down, as there is always going to be a decent supply of the mobs you need to encounter to harvest the resource, and the biggest challenge might be tracking backwards and forwards to your home base.
