You may wish to turn off crossplay in XDefiant for plenty of reasons. Thankfully, it’s relatively straightforward, albeit with a few steps on each system, to shut off cross-platform features and enjoy the game worry-free. Here’s how!
How to Shut Off Crossplay in XDefiant
You can relatively easily turn off crossplay in XDefiant by opening the game’s main menu and then navigating to the “Settings” page, selecting “Matchmaking & Account.” Within this menu, scroll down until you find “Crossplay” and change the setting to “Off.” With this new toggle switched off, you won’t connect to players across other systems.
On PlayStation 5, it’s the same method. Just follow the above steps to shut off crossplay features. On Xbox, however, you must use the console’s settings. Here’s how:
- Select the Xbox button in the center of your controller.
- Choose Profile and System > Settings > Account.
- Scroll until you find Privacy > Xbox Privacy > View Details and Customize > Communication and Multiplayer.
- Locate the “Join cross-network play” option within this menu and turn it off.

Why Should You Turn Off Crossplay in XDefiant?
You have those willing to cheat whenever you have a competitive first-person shooter. Unfortunately, they’re likely on PC, where it’s easier to download cheats and hacks to ensure an unfair advantage over the opposing team.
For many console players, dealing with such players proves challenging and bothersome, and they would rather deal with slightly increased queue times than play against a hacker. That’s the primary reason why anyone may wish to turn off crossplay in XDefiant!
