The world of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is positively massive, far more so than the first Remake, and you’re on foot for much of its exploration. Where to Get a Chocobo in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
As you escape Shinra in Kalm and move into the open world proper, within the Grasslands, you’ll inevitably stumble upon the swamp with critters lurking below the surface. People cannot pass through the water; only Chocobo can. And so, your main quest will send you to the Chocobo Ranch just down the road, where you’ll meet up with Bill once again, and he’ll offer to help you with a ride across the waters.
Bill asks that you speak with his grandson in the barn. There, you’ll find Billy, who will explain how to locate and mount a Chocobo in the wild. This process involves a simple minigame, but once finished, the Chocobo is yours to call anytime in the Grasslands!

How to Catch a Chocobo in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Every Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth region features a unique Chocobo variant for you to catch and ride. Most of the time, catching a feathered friend is simple enough. It involves a stealth section, in which you’ll slink through the grass, calmly and quietly, until you reach the Chocobo.
But to catch a Chocobo, you must partake in a small minigame. After sneaking up, the minigame initiates; you’ll have to avoid detection and navigate the tall grass, tossing rocks to distract the rest of the flock, and then hit ‘Triangle’ on the controller to hop aboard the Chocobo. While simple enough, this minigame becomes more challenging as you progress deeper into the game.
Once you wrangle the mount, it’s yours. You can call it anytime with a whistle and then ride through the plains, across swamps, and over rocky hills.
