Like the majority of crops and plants in Grow a Garden 2, a Venus Fly Trap is obtained via purchase at the Seed Shop. However, it may take a long time for it to appear.
The Venus Fly Trap is one of the rarest plants in the game, costing a whopping seven million Sheckles for a single seed, and its appearance in the Seed Shop is not common.

Each Shop rotation, the Venus Fly Trap has just a 1.43% chance of appearing in stock, so even if you have the money, it’s a waiting game to grab it.
While it does yield fruit, with a base price of 3,000 Sheckles, the predominant use of a Venus Fly Trap isn’t for gaining profit.
What Does Venus Fly Trap do in Grow a Garden 2?
As well as growing fruit that can be sold for profit, the Venus Fly Trap in Grow a Garden 2 acts as a defensive mechanism to protect your crops from being stolen by other players.
Under the cover of night in Grow a Garden 2, it’s a free-for-all and opposing players may wander into your garden and attempt to steal rare or expensive crops, which can then be cashed in for Sheckles if they successfully return them to their own garden.
Gears like Gnomes can be used to protect your crops, but these only last for a short period of time. Meanwhile, a Venus Fly Trap can provide protection for longer.

If other players come too close to the Venus Fly Trap, it will attack them, potentially knocking them out and resulting in them dropping some Sheckles.
As it has a set range, it’s best to plant your most valuable crops around the Venus Fly Trap, or plant the Fly Trap itself next to the crop you want to prioritize protecting.
