Marvel Rivals has plenty of rewards to earn, including valuable Chrono Shield Cards that are a great assistance in your quest to reach the highest rank in Competitive.
Since its release on December 6, 2024, Marvel Rivals has been an incredibly popular title across all platforms, with regular content updates and a host of cosmetic rewards.
Chrono Shield Cards are a new addition to Marvel Rivals from the May 14 update, and we’ve got all the details you need.
How to Get Chrono Shield Cards in Marvel Rivals

Chrono Shield Cards are earned from the Galacta’s Gift event in Marvel Rivals, which provides various rewards for playing matches.
The second and fourth reward on the list, which also includes Nameplates, Sprays, and a Costume Coin to claim a free costume, are four Chrono Shield Card.
To claim both Chrono Shield Card rewards, complete a total of 12 matches. This can be done in Quick Match, Competitive, or even Practice VS. AI, so there are plenty of options.
Every three matches completed, a new reward is available, but you need to return to the Galacta’s Gift page and manually claim each reward to unlock it.
The tab is easily accessible from the main menu, however, so it isn’t a complicated step, and you’ll soon have all the freebies you can get your hands on.
How to Use Chrono Shield Cards in Marvel Rivals
Chrono Shield Cards automatically activate if they are in your inventory in the event of a loss in Competitive Mode, preventing you from losing progress in the quest to reach the next rank.
If you already have a Chrono Shield active in Competitive, which is issued after losing multiple matches, a Chrono Shield Card will not be activated, saving you from using this valuable consumable.
There are some restrictions, however, as Chrono Shield Cards can only be used in Gold rank and below, so you’re out of luck if you’re above that level, but they will serve as great assistance in the quest to reach Gold level and unlock the seasonal reward, which is currently the Golden Diamond Costume for Emma Frost.
Chrono Shield Cards have an inventory limit of 20 and reset each season, so expect to have more earnable in the future, but they will not be available for purchase.
