Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Launch Trailer Reveals New Weapons and Characters

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores‘ official launch trailer reveals plenty of new details about the upcoming expansion including new weapons and characters Aloy will encounter along the way.

The trailer offers a look at aerial combat and underwater traversal which are set to be major factors in the Burning Shores campaign. The Sunwing can be seen dodging a bombardment of missiles in midair and later diving into the ocean with Aloy on board. We also get a closer at the game’s setting which features a ruined and rustic Hollywood sign.

More details about the expansion’s plot have also been revealed and it looks like Aloy will be teaming up with a new ally as they explore the ruins of Los Angeles to prevent a new threat from wiping out humanity. The trailer ends on a spoiler-y final shot which sees Aloy wielding a Zenith weapon and facing down a gigantic spider-like machine.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores was officially revealed during last year’s game awards and is being released exclusively on PS5 despite its parent game also being on PS4. Guerilla Games previously stated that this is to refine the game’s cloudscape and it make it look even more realistic. An understandable decision given the fact that Burning Shores is set to have a huge emphasis on aerial traversal.

Burning Shores is currently available to pre-order on PS Store which offers a few in-game items like the Blacktide Dye Outfit and the Blacktide Sharpshoot Bow. The DLC is set after Horizon Forbidden West, as such players must complete the main campaign before they can explore the new location. Burning Shores will launch on April 19th and is currently priced at £15.99/$19.99.
