In a new blog post, PlayStation announced the full details for the new Helldivers 2 warbond, Cutting Edge, with a release date of March 14th.
The Warbond has an electrical theme with new armor, weaponry, and emotes. The armor features “EX Series Prototypes”.
The new weapons will include the LAS-16 Sickle, SG-8P Punisher Plasma, and ARC-12 Blitzer. Players will also get to “unlock a new stun grenade, the G-23 Stun, and the LAS-7 Dagger pistol”.
Lastly, Cutting Edge will also add three new capes with matching player cards. Players got cinematic and in-game looks at the Cutting Edge content in a new PlayStation trailer.
Helldivers 2 continues to take the gaming world by storm. In February, Helldivers 2 even reached 400,000 concurrent players on Steam. The player count became so high that the developers raised the server capacity to 700,000 late last month.
Although the game still has some bugs, players widely praise its cinematic action and smooth multiplayer gameplay. There was some division over the latest balance patch. But the devs did issue an official explanation over recent balancing changes.
Earlier this week, developer Arrowhead Studios also confirmed that mechs are coming to Helldivers 2 soon.
The studio’s Twitter account teased that “the EXO-45 Patriot Exosuits are in full production in the factories of Tien Kwan”. The devs did not confirm an exact release date.
Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt also confirmed this week that Helldivers 2 was not sold to PlayStation. Pilestedt said that “this is fake. Unless I’ve missed something”, as well as “this is the first I hear of this”. So, players can rest assured that Helldivers 2 will continue on normally.
