HandyGames is becoming THQ Nordic Mobile, focusing on PC and console ports for mobile while HandyGames Studios continues original development.
This news was announced on August 7 in a press release. On the same day, THQ Nordic held a video showcase previewing upcoming games.
The press release notes that THQ Nordic Mobile plans to continue building on the success of mobile adaptations of Wreckfest and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom. Specifically, they note that they are focusing solely on bringing critically acclaimed PC and console titles to mobile audiences worldwide.
“The move streamlines publishing operations and positions the group to accelerate the development of high-end adaptations of established gaming franchises for iOS, Android, and next-generation mobile platforms,” the press release notes.

HandyGames Studios to Support THQ Nordic Mobile’s Game Ports
Meanwhile, HandyGames’ internal development team in Giebelstadt will continue its 26-year legacy as HandyGames Studios. The studio will focus on developing original games while also supporting THQ Nordic Mobile’s technical porting efforts.
HandyGames co-founders Christopher Kassulke and Markus Kassulke will continue to lead both the publishing label and HandyGames Studios.
The press release notes that the reorganization will be seamless for existing partners, developers, and players, and that all development pipelines supporting existing titles and licensing units will remain in place during this transition to the new structures.
