According to a new report from mobilegamer.biz, the GTA trilogy has reached 18 million downloads on Netflix Games. The report cites Appmagic data for downloads on iOS and Android.
GTA: The Trilogy Definitive Edition launched onto Netflix Games in December 2023. Since then, Netflix Games has seen a steep increase in downloads.
Fans gave the new mobile version of the GTA trilogy very positive reviews. Many praised its superior changes compared to the previous Definitive Edition from 2021.
The GTA trilogy on Netflix Games includes GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas. But according to today’s new report, the combined downloads for San Andreas commanded the majority of players on Netflix Games.
Across iOS and Android devices, San Andreas managed to accumulate 11.6 million downloads all on its own.
In fact, Appmagic data also suggests that GTA: San Andreas now leads the Netflix Games chart for most lifetime downloads. Vice City narrowly made the top ten, listed in tenth place.
Netflix Games likely needed the boost. Its mobile titles haven’t really drawn the massive buzz Netflix surely hoped for.
Now, the service has surely earned goodwill from subscribers.
The attention to detail in Netflix Games’ GTA Trilogy establishes trust that the service can become a major player. However, it also sets a high standard for future titles.
The GTA series has faced a lot of obstacles lately, namely the severe leaks for GTA 6. The hacker behind those crimes was recently sentenced in December 2023.
The ‘Florida Joker’ also recently threatened Rockstar Games with plans to join that hacker. But at this time, they have suddenly changed their tune and expressed interest in joining GTA 6 instead.
