‘You Won’t Think It’s So Woke’: Geralt Voice Actor Snaps Back at Witcher 4 Hate

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now a decade old, and that means iconic voice actor Doug Cockle has been on a whistlestop tour of late, indulging in many nostalgia-fuelled reviews of the game that made the franchise. He recently appeared in an interview that was a lighthearted thing, showcasing the best Witcher memes from the last ten years.

However, talk turned to the reveal of The Witcher 4, which was the subject of criticism by certain gamers who disagreed with the new protagonist, Ciri, and her character model. Doug Cockle, the voice behind the legendary Geralt of Rivia, snapped back at those haters.

‘Read the Damn Books’

Doug Cockle is still a huge fan of the character he brought to life all those years ago. He’s still assuming the role of Geralt of Rivia whenever possible, such as in the recent animated series, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. He once said he’d happily play Geralt forever, and I believed him when we caught up a while ago.

In a recent video shared by Fall Damage, Doug Cockle fired back at haters who threw shade at The Witcher 4 when it was revealed by CD Projekt Red with a sumptuous trailer.

All you people who think it’s woke… If you read the books, then you understand why CD Projekt went down this avenue. There’s a whole rich world of stuff to explore with Ciri that they didn’t do when they put her into Witcher 3, because the story was about Geralt.

If you think it’s woke, read the damn books. They’re good, first of all, and secondly, you won’t think it’s so woke anymore.

Cockle went on to explain that he ‘celebrates’ Ciri as the lead in The Witcher 4.

We still don’t know if Geralt will feature in The Witcher 4 in any capacity. It’s almost inevitable that he will appear somewhere, even if it’s just a cameo for fan service value. He’s far too important a character not to appear at all. A while ago, Cockle was reprimanded by CDPR when he suggested that Geralt would return for The Witcher 4.

  • CDPR should have been closed after CP2077 and their lies the fake footage and lying to shareholders. This is why I assume Ubisoft feels they can do the same. Governments holding them accountable needs to happen!

  • Are there actually people against Ciri as the protagonist? Most of what I’ve seen is people against the change to her look.
