The back end of 2026 is packed with huge releases, and there are arguably none bigger for XBOX fans than Gears of Way: E-Day.
A new entry in the series from The Coalition is bringing the story right back to its beginning, with Gears of War: E-Day serving as a prequel to all the titles released thus far.

When is Gears of War: E-Day Coming Out?
Gears of War: E-Day is slated for release on October 6, though there are ways to obtain early access to the title and to jump in earlier.
The majority of players, including those jumping in with an XBOX Game Pass subscription, will be able to play from the October 6 release date, while others can jump in a few days earlier.
Purchasing the Premium Edition of Gears of War: E-Day provides up to five days early access, with the doors opening on October 1.
As ever, the exact time you can jump into the game is impacted by your region and platform, so be sure to check ahead of launch to avoid frustration.
What Time Does Gears of War: E-Day Launch
The exact release time for Gears of War: E-Day in your region depends on your platform, with the XBOX release taking place at midnight local time, while the PC release occurs at 9 AM PT/11 AM ET/5 PM BST.
Unlike the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store doesn’t list the exact release time for titles, but E-Day is also releasing on PC, and SteamDB shows the expected release time.
However, the console release time may be different to PC, with XBOX releases normally occurring at midnight local time with a staggered release, whereas PC seems to have a simultaneous release.
