Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer reveal has arrived, featuring details on Horde Siege, Versus, cosmetics and more.
Coalition is all set to release the next installment of their popular franchise, Gears of War, with E-Day releasing this October. Ahead of the launch, we have already received a preview of the game, and the developers have provided new details on the title’s multiplayer elements that you can learn more about below.
Gears of War E-Day Multiplayer: No Battle Pass, Horde Siege, Versus and More
No Battle Pass and Pay-to-Win Elements
In relation to cosmetics in Gears of War: E-Day, the developers have confirmed that the game will not include a battle pass. Almost everything can be earned through gameplay. Most of the game’s skins are inspired by the lore, theme, and events of the Gears universe. Players can unlock new items by completing seasonal and event challenges, achieving specific milestones, and earning medals through the Classic Medal System. Additionally, players can earn other cosmetics by completing matches and collecting coins.
The game features several legendary skins that are quite extravagant. The developers have confirmed the existence of some paid items, but these are limited to the premium edition of the game and associated partner content. One notable piece of this partner content is the “Ride the Lightning” weapon skin set, created in collaboration with Metallica.
Each season of Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer will introduce new characters from both the COG and Locust factions, as well as new weapon skins, poses, customization options, challenges, medals, and events. The developers have also confirmed that there will be no pay-to-win elements in the game.
Horde Siege Details
A new video from Xbox and The Coalition shares details about the multiplayer features of Gears of War: E-Day. One of the key modes highlighted is Horde Siege, where players can choose from four distinct classes: Assault, Marksman, Breacher, and Medic. Each class comes with its own tactical gear and has a unique progression system for weapons, armor mods, and gear mods.
The mode will include mission types that offer players both main and side objectives. Main objectives consist of tasks like securing and protecting rigs. Side objectives feature optional timed missions, such as eliminating a high-value target, defusing explosives, delivering cores, and more. Additionally, there will be numerous multi-squad opportunities, including reviving players from other squads and collaborating to take down powerful bosses.
After completing the main objective, players can proceed to extraction; however, they must first defeat one final wave of enemies. Not all players need to return to the chopper, but rewards will be affected if some squad members are left behind. The video also showcases extensive weapon customization, and players must strategically create their builds to support their teams.
Versus Details
In Versus modes, you’ll find plenty of thrilling action. Player versus Player (PvP) matches do not have mods; each player starts with the same loadout, and battles take place on symmetrical arenas. Both teams must explore various locations to find weapon spawns. The initial maps include Park, Battleship, Outpost, Precinct, Market, and Skyward, all set in and around Kalona. At launch, there will be four game modes available: Team Deathmatch, Conquest, Demolition, and Crucible.
New maps, modes, and events will be released after launch. There is a boot camp that provides a walkthrough of the basics and a combat training area where you can practice before entering real battles. You can choose from several pre-made controller schemes, which can be customized further. You have the option to play casually with other players, against bots, or in ranked matches.
