THE INSIDER SAYS: “We’ve had our eyes on Wild Blue Skies for a while because we kept asking ourselves “When the hell is another Star Fox game gonna come out?!?!” Of course, that just happened (as a level-for-level remaster). Still, there’s lots of promise here and with a studio started by an OG Star Fox programmer, you should check this out.”

Bowie Stray and the Blue Bombers are the galaxy’s last line of defense against Grimclaw’s forces. The only thing standing between them and total domination is an on-rails corridor, a responsive trigger, and your reflexes. Developed by Chuhai Labs — the indie studio founded by OG Star Fox programmer Giles Goddard — Wild Blue Skies is a love letter to the on-rails shooters of the N64 and PS1 era. There’s some interesting twists for this flythrough, though. Not only is it rebuilt for modern hardware with anime-inspired visuals, the branching paths (and hidden areas) make each flight potentially feel unique.

INSIDE LOOKS:

  • Classic on-rails aerial combat — Considering the influences and the founders’ creds, we’re expecting tight, responsive controls, cinematic set pieces, and level structures designed around mastery and replayability.
  • Branching level paths — Routes through stages diverge. So keep an eye out for hidden paths to take!
  • Titan-sized boss battles — Each mission leads into a large-scale fight against Grimclaw’s heaviest hitters. Brace for incoming fire and and plan for pattern recognition.

Available on: PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
