THE INSIDER SAYS: “Hey! You got your Rainbow 6: Siege and Door Kickers / Phantom Squad in my PUBG! There’s a mash-up phrase you don’t hear all that often, but it’s appropriate for PUBG: Blindspot, the 5v5 tactical action game is entering Early Access – and it’s free.”
Team based tactical action, all done from a bird’s eye (drone’s eye?) perspective seems like a big jump for the brand that basically invented the modern Battle Royale era, but what PUBG: Blindspot has on offer is actually pretty interesting at first glance.
Inspired by the likes of Rainbow 6: Siege, you’re choosing from a roster of “agents” that each have distinct personalities and specialties in the field.
As opposed to aim and pure twitch skills, the focus here is more on teamwork. Take corners in pairs, flank-and-frag anything that comes in your way. When we say teamwork is key, we mean it. Your views and visibility are tied to what your teammates see. You get additional lines of sight and better angles based on how well your team can coordinate. When angles aren’t in your favor, blow up the odd wall that gets in your way with destructible environments.
At this point, there seem to be a few modes to kick around: One being Demolition. One team defends a position and repels the other squad.
While it’s very much Early Access at this stage, there’s more than enough to dip into a few rounds and get a taste of how PUBG: Blindspot works.
INSIDE LOOKS:
- A gang of playable agents available.
- The feel they are going for is a realtime, top-down tactical shooter.
- Explosives, hammers, explosive hammers, and drones are some of the tools at your disposal.
PUBG: Blindspot will be available in Early Access with a demo on Steam for PC.
