In a post on social media, Nikita Buyanov, the head of the studio at Battlestate Games and the figurehead of Rant Gaming, revealed that Fragmentary Order, an all-new hardcore sci-fi shooter, shares the same universe as Escape from Tarkov. This link between Buyanov’s games was rumored for a while, and a few nods between the two titles had been picked up by fans.
It’s not clear how the universes are linked, but I was given a minuscule glimpse behind that curtain when I sat down with Buyanov earlier this year to get an exclusive first look at Fragmentary Order, which could turn out to be the developer’s magnum opus.
FragO and Tarkov Are Linked
In a post on social media, Nikita Buyanov confirmed two key facts about Fragmentary Order. Yesterday, the team at Rant Gaming, effectively a sister studio alongside Battlestate Games, revealed a massive 14-minute gameplay trailer for ‘FragO’, which landed very well with prospective fans.
He confirmed that a) PvE will be integrated and not a separate game profile, and b) Tarkov and Fragmentary Ordre occupy the same universe.
For those not in the know, Fragmentary Order is a first-person tactical shooter set in 2251, taking place mostly on a colonized Mars. It features many key elements that are present in Escape from Tarkov, including factions at each other’s throats, a war-torn landscape, and a gruelling combat loop.
It’s not being marketed as an extraction shooter, which is important to stress.
The team recently revealed that ‘early access’ to Fragmentary Order can be secured now via the Prime Batch mechanic. This is a system designed to get testers into the fold early, at a minimum cost of $44.99. Once you’ve registered with the Prime Batch system, via either the standard or the ‘Founders’ edition, you’ll have locked in your launch copy of Fragmentary Order, along with some other bonuses.
