Forza Motorsport’s release date it’s unlikely to come until the second half of 2023, according to Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb.
The details come via Grubb on the latest episode of the GameMess Decides podcast. Speaking to GamesBeat’s Mike Minotti, Grubb detailed information he’d been given about the racing sim’s release date.
“I feel pretty good about this after asking around a couple of times after hearing it for the first time earlier today,” says Grubb. “It does seem that Forza is going to slip later into the year and probably won’t be the first half of the year.
“I don’t think that’s too surprising after hearing 2023, but I do wonder why they wouldn’t just come out and say that now because it’s just going to be more pain later.”
Forza Motorsport looks to revive the realistic and high-fidelity racing sim series that has long given way to its more bombastic and arcadey cousin, Forza Horizon. The game was recently shown off during Microsoft’s Xbox & Bethesda Developer Direct broadcast.
The game’s segment during the 45-minute broadcast focussed on the visual and audio fidelity of the upcoming game, as well as the addition of new features like dynamic weather and time of day which can affect the racing experience on each track. Unlike many of the other games shown, however, Forza Motorsport did not have a release date confirmed, with the game simply listed as coming in 2023.
The Xbox & Bethesda Developer Direct also covered major titles including Redfall and Minecraft Legends, as well as the surprise launch of Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush.
In a recent update on those talking about Grubb’s claims, the industry insider tweeted that he thinks the actual release is still fluctuating.
