Fortnite players are skipping Sprite collecting in-game to fast-track completing their collection, instead turning to second-hand marketplaces to secure the missing items they need.
Epic Games‘ transition into Chapter 7 Season 3 in Fortnite last week included the return of Sprites, which provide effects to players when equipped, alongside extraction mechanics for ticking off the wide array of Sprites in your collection.
Some of the rarest Sprites in the game take an immense amount of luck to encounter, and many Fortnite players are turning to the likes of eBay to complete their collection.

Ebay Filled With Fortnite Players Purchasing Sprites
A quick search of eBay’s sold listings shows over 500 transactions relating to Sprites in Fortnite, and while the average price has dropped significantly since release, the highest amount spent was $60 on all Gold Sprites in the game.
Over 50 sales of in-game Fortnite Sprites took place on eBay yesterday, June 15, showing that there is plenty of interest in the market for these items.
Regarding the sales of Sprites, Epic Games spokesperson Cat McCormack confirmed that buying and selling gameplay items like Sprites violates Epic Games’ rules and puts players at risk of scams.

Epic Games is actively working with platforms to remove these listings, and confirmed that, as the season progresses, players will have more opportunities to collect Sprites.
